Chapter   Twenty-Six

A few hours later, Brian and VJ walked through the door, laughing. Alisha and Nick were on the couch, their lips too busy kissing to say anything. Brian and VJ stood there watching them for a few minutes, then Brian cleared his throat to get their attention. It didn't work.

"Hey, Nick!" Brian practically yelled.

Nick and Alisha both jumped up from their position of laying down on the couch. When they saw Brian and VJ looking at them like disturbed parents, they started laughing.

"What?" Alisha said, defensively. "It's not like you haven't done this before."

"Yeah, but we're not going ninety miles per hour on the highway of love either," VJ pointed out.

"No, I'd say you two are going about fifty in a seventy," Nick kidded them.

"That's a good one, Nick," Brian said, sarcastically. "Seriously, guys. You have to slow down. Doing what you were just doing can lead to doing other things that you shouldn't be doing."

"Could you run that by me again, Dad? I don't think I caught that one," Alisha said.

"Chill, Alisha. We're just trying to look out for you guys. You live under my roof, therefore you are my responsibility, until you're eighteen," VJ said, trying to calm her down. "You have only five more months to go."

"And Nick, you're mom and dad are trusting me, as your best friend, to look out for you, too," Brian told him. "I don't intend to let them down."

"I guess I can understand that," Alisha said. "Just don't have any objections to me spending the weekend at Nick's house."

"No, of course not," VJ said. "Over there, you'll have adult supervision. Go ahead. Are you taking your books so you can study for your semester exams on Monday?"

"Nah, I feel like I'm pretty well prepared. And we have a study period before the test, so I can look over my notes then."

"Alright then. You two ready to go?" VJ looked at Alisha and Nick.

"Yeah, we're all packed," Nick said.

"Okay, let's get your stuff into the jeep and take off," Brian said.

All of them loaded the bags into the jeep. It was a tight squeeze, but they managed to make them all fit. They spent the whole way down there talking, listening to music on the radio, and Brian and Nick told them about the video they were about to shoot for the new single.

When they finally got to Nick's house, Nick's parents were outside, enjoying the sun. Nick jumped out of the jeep and ran to over to his mom and dad. They hugged for a long time. Brian also made his way over while VJ and Alisha stood by the jeep watching them. Then Nick turned and signaled for them to come over.

"Mom, Dad," he started. "This is the girl I've been telling you about, Alisha Walker. Ali, these are my parents, Robert and Jane Carter."

"Nice to meet you Mr. and Mrs. Carter," Alisha said, shaking their hands.

"Nice to finally meet you, too, Alisha," Jane Carter said. "And please, call us 'Bob' and 'Jane'."

"So this is the girl who captured my son's heart," Bob Carter said. "Son, you have good taste. She's gorgeous."

"I know, Dad," Nick said, putting his arm around Alisha's shoulders.

"Nick, aren't you forgetting someone?" Brian hinted.

"Oh yeah. Mom, Dad, this is Brian's girlfriend, Victoria Johnson. She's Alisha's cousin."

"Hello, nice to meet you," Jane said, shaking her hand.

"Nice to meet you, too," VJ responded back. "Call me 'VJ'."

"Feel free to call us 'Bob' and 'Jane', also," Bob said. Then he took a closer look at both Alisha and VJ. "Are you two aware of how much you look alike?"

"Yeah," VJ and Alisha said in unison.

"Boys, why don't you get Nick's and Alisha's bags and bring them inside," Jane said. "Nick, put Alisha's things in the guestroom. Come on, girls. I'll introduce you to Nick's brother and sisters."

When they walked in, VJ and Alisha saw a little flash of blond run by them, then a flash of brown chasing after. Bob excused himself and went to get the two kids. Jane lead VJ and Alisha into the living room, there they saw two girls, one with blond hair, the other with brown.

"VJ, Alisha, this is Bobbie Jean, we call her 'BJ'...." Jane pointed to the blond girl. "....and this is Leslie." Jane pointed to the brown-haired girl. "Girls, this is Brian's girlfriend, Victoria Johnson and your brother's girlfriend, Alisha Walker."

"Mom, I've met VJ before," BJ said. "How's it goin', VJ?"

"Pretty good," VJ answered. "How about you?"

"I'm all right," BJ smiled. Then she turned to Alisha. "Hey, Alisha. What's up?"

"Not much," Alisha said.

"Hi, VJ and Alisha," Leslie said.

"Hey, Leslie," they said together.

Then, Bob came back with another brown-haired girl and a little blond-haired boy. They sort of looked alike, but one seemed more calm than the other.

"VJ, Alisha, these are Nick's other sister and his brother, Angel and Aaron," Bob said. "They're fraternal twins."

"Hello, Angel and Aaron," Alisha said.

"How's it goin'?" VJ asked them.

"We're all right," they said together.

"Are you guys twins, too?" Aaron asked them.

"No," VJ and Alisha said.

"But sometimes we act like it," Alisha told him. Wow. He looks just like a miniature Nick, she thought.

Right then, Nick and Brian walked in the living room. Brian walked over to VJ and gave her a small on the kiss on the lips. Nick picked up Alisha and spun her around.

"I see you've met my sisters and brother," he said.

"Yes, I have," Alisha said, giving him a peck on the cheek.

"Brian, are you and VJ going to be staying for dinner?" Jane asked.

"No, we have to head back," Brian said. "But thanks for the invite."

"Yeah, sorry we can't stay longer," VJ said. "I have rehearsal in the morning for a show I'll be performing in. I'll let Ali give you all the particulars."

"We'll see you later, Nick, Ali," Brian said. "Do you want me to come and pick you up on Sunday, Alisha?"

"Nah, that's okay," Bob said. "We'll take her back."

"Alright, thanks," VJ said. "It was nice meeting you all."

Brian and VJ said their goodbyes and headed back to Orlando.
