Chapter   Seven

The next day, Lila and Adonica got on a plane to head back to the US. Of course, AJ and Lila took forever. When they were finally in their seats, Lila spoke up.

"So, I guess your relationship with Brian is over, huh?" she said.

"Why do you ask?" Adonica asked.

"Well, it can't still be going if you and Nick are kissing like there's no tomorrow."

"He told you?"

"Of course AJ told me. You're my best friend. He would tell me. I'd expect him to, since he's my boyfriend, and both of us care about you. And Brian is still part of the group. He just doesn't want anything to happen that can affect the group in a negative way."

"Well, Nick and I certainly didn't plan for it to happen."

"Then how did it happen?"

"I was by myself because Brian went to do something. I looked around the hotel and found Nick playing video games. So, we got to talking about my relationship with Brian. Next thing I know, we're kissing."

"So, how was it?"

"How was what?"

"The kiss!"

"Lila, how can you ask me that?"

"I open my mouth and the words come out," she said, sarcastically. "Get real, Adonica. You must've felt something."

"I felt everything with Nick that I'd been hoping to feel with Brian."

"Wow. What are you going to do? Are you going to break up with him?"

"I don't know. I like him a lot, but I think I've fallen hard for Nick."

"I was kind of wondering about that," Lila said, thoughtfully. "I noticed you and Nick were starting to spend a lot of time together. It was strange. You and Nick seemed like more of a couple than you and Brian ever did."

The rest of the flight, they were pretty quiet. Adonica thought about what Lila said. It was bad enough to lose most of her feelings for Brian, but to feel them with Nick, was even worse. Adonica thought maybe some time apart was what they needed. But that wasn't the case at all.
