Chapter   Eight

When the Boys got back to their hotel, they found their girlfriends weren't talking to them. They all went into Kevin's room to talk. Kevin made sure the door was locked, then sat on his bed.

"What is up with our girls?" asked AJ. "They're acting like little kids."

"Valerie said they're jealous," Brian told them.

"Of what?" asked Nick. "They don't have anything to jealous about."

"Maybe they do," said Howie. "I mean, look at how we first reacted to Ariana, Valerie, Tricia, Anissa, and Tamera when we first saw them at the airport. For all we know, the girls could've seen us looking at them."

"Howie's right," said Kevin. "We had our backs turned to them when they showed up. We don't know how long they'd been there."

"Do any of you guys feel like your a poster boy when you're with your girl?" Brian asked.

"I do sometimes," said AJ. "But I just passed it off as paranoia."

"I never really thought about it," said Kevin. "Marianna and I knew each other a long time before we got together."

"I've know Laura and Lisa since they moved in our neighborhood," said Nick.

"And that gave me the chance to be friends with Lisa before we got together, too," said Brian.

"Sarah and I knew each other in high school," said Howie.

"So did Jazzmine and I," AJ said.

"But that doesn't mean they can't change," said Kevin. "When this video shoot is over, the whole thing could blow over."

"I sure hope so," said Nick. "I don't think I can handle any more of this."

Kevin looked at his watch. "Well, sorry to do this to you guys, but get out. I'm meeting Tricia in an hour and a half. I have to start getting ready."

"That means I have to go get dressed as well," said Howie.

"I told Tamera I'd call her before I went over to pick her up," said AJ.

"I'm going back to my room," said Brian. "I'm gonna try to get Lisa to talk to me."

"I'm gonna do the same thing with Laura," said Nick.

Howie and AJ went to their rooms while Brian and Nick went to go see their girlfriends.

"How do we look?" Ariana asked Anissa and Tamera.

"You guys look great," Anissa said.

"Kevin and Howie are gonna wish they didn't have girlfriends," said Tamera.

"That's what we're hoping for," Tricia smiled wickedly.

At that moment the phone rang. Anissa got up and answered it.

"Oh, hi, AJ," said Anissa. "Yeah, she's right here." She looked at Tamera. "It's for you."

Tamera took the phone. "Hi, AJ.... I have to talk to you about that.... Yeah. Is it all right if we just chill in my room?.... All right, cool.... Okay. See ya in a few.... Bye." Tamera smiled. "He's coming over."

"Okay. Well, have fun. Ariana and I better get back to our rooms."

After the two girls left, Anissa turned on the TV. Her and Tamera watched TV waiting for AJ to show up. When there was a knock on the door, Tamera jumped off the Anissa's bed and went to answer it. She opened it and saw AJ and Nick standing in the hall.

"I hope you don't mind, but I brought Nick with me," AJ said.

"No, that's fine," said Tamera. "Come on in." At least Anissa will have some company, she thought.

Anissa looked up from the television and saw Nick standing right beside her. "Hey, Nick, what are you doin' here?"

"I didn't have anything to do so I came with AJ," he said.

"What happened to your girlfriend?"

"She's being a brat. She won't talk to me," said Nick.

" 'Cause of earlier?"

"Yeah. I don't know what her problem is."

"I guess some girls are just like that."

"I guess. But, anyway, here I am. What do you want to do?"

"Eat?"

Nick smiled and patted his tummy. "You read my mind. There's an ice cream shop down the street. How about we go there?"

"Sure. Let me get my jacket." Anissa got off her bed and walked over to the closet where she hung up her jacket. "All right let's go."

"Where do you two think you're going?" AJ looked at them.

"To the ice cream shop down the street," Nick said.

"And who said Anissa could go?" Tamera asked.

"I never said I'd stay at the hotel," said Anissa walking to the door. "See ya later."

Nick smiled. "Later."

The two of them walked out the door.

"Tricia said you had to stay at the hotel, right?" AJ asked.

"Right." Tamera looked at him.

"Let's go to the hotel resturaunt."

"Okay." Then AJ and Tamera left the room. Tamera grabbed the key and locked the door from the outside, then followed AJ to the elevator.

Valerie was listening to a Brian McKnight CD when she heard a knock on her door. She was expecting to see Anissa, but found Brian outside her door instead.

"What are you doing here? she asked him.

"Well, everybody else went somewhere and I didn't want to be at the hotel by myself, so I grabbed my hat and sunglasses, and walked over."

"You mean Nick isn't at the hotel, either?"

"No, he came over with AJ."

"Oh." They stood there for a minute. Then Valerie realized she should invite Brian in. "Come on in. Man, I feel stupid. I should've invited you in sooner."

Brian smiled. "That's okay. It never occured to me to mention it."

Valerie opened the door wider and stepped aside to let Brian in. He walked into her room and she closed the door.

"You like Brian McKnight?" Brian asked, listening to the CD playing.

"Yeah," Valerie said, quietly. "We could listen to something else."

"That all right," Brian said. "But show me what else you have."

Brian and Valerie looked at her CDs and they starting talking about the different kinds of music they liked to listen to. Brian, being who he was, started making Valerie and himself laugh until tears formed in their eyes. But they were having a lot of fun.

Kevin, Tricia, Howie, and Ariana were standing in line to get into this club called "The Raven". The bouncer finally waved them in without checking for ID. Tricia and Ariana looked around. The club was painted black with glow in the dark stars, moons, and planets all over the walls, and flashing lights over the dance floor. Then another security guy came over and usherd them to a table that seemed to be in some sort of VIP section. There was a booth with small curtains on top of them, for privacy.

"Why didn't the bouncer check for our IDs?" Tricia yelled over the loud music.

"Howie and I come here whenever we're in town," said Kevin. "The bouncers know us."

"I guess that's why we got this booth, huh?" said Ariana.

"Yeah, this is like our favorite place to sit," Howie informed her. "Every time we come here, we sit at this booth."

"So, do you want to dance?" Kevin looked at Tricia.

"Sure." Kevin and Tricia walked out onto the floor and started dancing.

Howie and Ariana looked at each other and smiled.

"Dance," they said in unison.

Soon, the four of them were out on the floor dancing like crazy.
